When it comes to our public library system you can get a lot for nothing. I recently discovered yet another free thing you can get with your library card from the Phoenix Public Libraries.
Did you know they offer classes of all kinds for free? All you have to do is get a free Phoenix Public Library card. Then go on there website at Phoenixpubliclibrary.org under calendar to see what classes are being offered, the location, date and time. Just register for the class ahead of time. They offer quite a variety from kids reading time to computer classes and even a resume or career building class. A lot to chose from all for free!
It’s the perfect time for gardening, but you don’t have to go broke getting it started. The sunshine is free and now so is the soil!
HMS Landscapes in Phoenix recycles their lawn trimmings by mulching it and giving it away for FREE!
The landscape company said they generate more than 780 tons of green waste per year so recycling helps out. Best of all, nothing else is added to the mulch so it carries a ton of nutrients. You can pick up the free mulch Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m., but be sure to call first.
You can load up bags, buckets, even trucks, and there are no limits to how much mulch you can take. Use the mulch to freshen up your garden or even your landscape.
HMS Landscapes is located at 6107 S. 32nd St in Phoenix.
They can be contacted at 602-268-1809.
We know you can buy generic brand products to save the most, but there are certain things you should buy brand names in order to save too. Here is my list of things to buy brand named.
Shopping for a new HDTV? In this case, you should always find the best prices but sticking with a well-known brand could save you in the long run. Often you can find off brand name HDTV’s for a lot less than a brand name would cost but in the long run, it may cost you more due to reliability. Some of the top brands according to Consumer Reports are Sony, Samsung, and LG. These HDTV manufacturers have a long history of reliability.
Next on the list of items to stick with brand names is dish soap. According to Thesweethome.com website they tested out 28 different brands of dish soap and only one winner. That winner was Seventh Generation Dish Liquid. They tested each product for cleaning power, price, social responsibility and most importantly cleaning. So if you want your dishes clean and hands feeling smooth this is your brand.
If you have dogs then try and stick with reliable dog brand foods. Meaning you know the food on the label is exactly what you are feeding you dog. Back in 2007, there was a very large dog food recall because some foods and treats had been contaminated by melamine. This is a chemical waste product that caused illness and death in animals. A lot of popular dog foods brands had been pulled off the shelves. Instead, do your research and check out the FDA.gov safety health and recalls on dog foods. Once you find a brand that is reliable and past the safety test stick with it. Or if you really want to make sure you know what you are feeding your dogs try making it yourself. Below is a link to great dog food recipe.

I don’t like perfumes on my body but I do like to smell clean and without breaking the bank. My solution is to make my own body mist spray for a fraction of what it would cost at stores like Sprouts and Whole Foods. Here is my recipe for making a lavender scent body mist.
It is so simple to make.
You will need the following ingredients:
Empty 6 to 8 ounce spray bottle
Fill the spray bottle ¾ of the way with Distilled water add 20 drops 100% pure essential lavender oil (or any scent you want to make with your essential oils)
Fill the spray bottle with distilled water. Then add 20 drops of lavender, cover the spray bottle shake it up and do a test spray to see if you like to smell. If you want a stronger lavender smell add 10 more drops of lavender. Now if you want to make a different scent you can use many different essential oils. Anything from sweet orange to peppermint, just make sure you are using pure essential oils.

September is the start of the end of summer. That means there are some things you should be buying this month in order to save the most.
That means all summer items will be at their lowest prices of the year. Why? Retailers need to move out end of season goods in order to make room for fall and winter items. So expect to find clearance deals on summer clothes and supplies. You should expect to find deals from major retailers like the Gap, Forever 21,Old Navy and Macy’s with discounts on summer clothes for 50% off or more. Also expect to find deep discounts on outdoor items like camping stuff. You should see some deals from retailers like REI during the Labor Day weekend.
Again another summer item that you will find some deep discounts are on patio furniture and grills. One of the many great things about living in Arizona is it stays nice and hot here until October. So you can still use these summer items in the fall but yet get a great deal on them. So check out retailers like Home Depot. Lowe’s, Wal-Mart and Target for deep discount throughout the month of September.
Lastly if you need a new mattress Labor Day weekend is often a great time to find a ton of sales on those mattresses. Retailers like sears and mattress stores should be offering sale prices at 50% off.
According to Dealnews.com September is a great month for finding awesome prices on 32” HDTV. From their research on previous years they have discovered that in September retailers have offered deep discounts on these size of HDTV’s. My guess, it is still back to school season and these 32” TV’s are great for college kids.
So if you are in the need of any of these items start scouring stores, ads and online retailers this Labor Day weekend so you can save the most.
